Boise State coach Chris Petersen could be headed to the SEC.A Mississippi TV station is reporting that Mississippi State University has offered Petersen a contract. According to the report, Petersen received the offer in a meeting with Mississippi State officials in Denver to discuss the offer. It’s easy to see why Mississippi State, which accepted the resignation of coach Sylvester Croom last week, would want Petersen, who has turned Boise State into a national power. But it’s harder to see why Petersen would want the job. Mississippi State is, after all, a program that has lost at least eight games in seven of the last eight seasons, and it won’t be easy to change that against a tough SEC schedule. The answer may be money: Petersen reportedly makes just under $1 million a year at Boise State, and Mississippi State is reportedly offering him more than $2 million.

The Mississippi State fans I know are going crazy with this, hoping that it’s true. If M-State can land Petersen, that would be a major boost for that school’s football program.
Boise State should really match what Miss. State is offering to keep this guy.
Boise State cannot match what Mississippi State is offering. Boise State accepts 92% of it’s applicants. What does that mean? It means they barely get anyone to come to their school; they need all the money they can get. I don’t know what to think here. Mississippi State will definitely get a recruiting boost here, but I don’t know if it will be great enough to turn around the program… And Peterson is 25% African American, so if he doesn’t get the program turned around in 2 years, he may be on the outs.
JUST KIDDING, GUYS.
Coach Peterson has come out and denied he was offered anything and said he has no interest n Miss St. Whether this is a real denial or a Saban denial is yet to be seen, but the guy is very happy at Boise. The story is here. http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/8900208/Boise-St.%27s-Peterson-not-interested-in-Miss.-St.
