Even as some corners of Madison have been grumbling about the school’s underachieving 2008 season, Wisconsin’s Athletic Board had no such qualms as they have given head coach Brett Bielema a one-year contract extension, the Wisconsin State Journal is reporting.Bielema’s contract now runs through the 2013 season. The coach will earn $1.4 million this season; as of yet, there are no financial details available for the extension."All I can say is how the board voted. It was a unanimous vote. (There) really weren’t any questions about the recommendations,” athletic director Barry Alvarez said regarding the extension coming in the face of public criticism.12-1 in his first season with the Badgers, Bielema has gone 9-4 and 7-6 since.
