THE ‘U’ STILL IN CONTROVERSIAL ADVISOR’S CORNER

CFT’s very own Keith Arnold noted earlier this afternoon a not-so-flattering New York Times report on Brian Butler, advisor for the nation’s #1 recruit Bryce Brown.Among other things, the article stated Butler is a convicted felon and that his “recruiting methods” have been questioned by some Kansas high school coaches. In direct response to The Times story, Butler spoke with the Orlando Sentinel about what kind of issues the story could cause with Miami (Fla.), which has received a verbal commitment from Brown."Everything is cool on our end,” Butler told The Sentinel. “It’s caused a lot of attention and interest, but hopefully it will benefit the kids in the long run. I don’t want people to get mixed up about the way we are doing things."They (Miami) basically said they support me 100 percent and nothing has changed. It doesn’t change from my end, either. They understand there’s a lot of spotlight and a lot of extra scrutiny that comes with my players."Even though today is National Signing Day, there is virtually no chance Brown makes a public decision today. In fact, the recruitment of Brown could go deep into the month of March.Letters of Intent must be signed no later than April 1.
