This is going to be a fun little rivalry…This morning, at a banquet celebrating Tennessee’s recruiting class, Lane Kiffin accused Urban Meyer of a recruiting violation. (Video in the link as well.) Better yet, Kiffin unleashed this bomb to the crowd at the Knoxville Convention Center, when talking about recent Tennessee commitment Nu’Keese Richardson.”I’m gonna turn Florida in right here in front of you. While Nu’Keese was on campus his phone kept ringing. One of the coaches says, ‘who’s that?’ And he looks at the phone and says, ‘Urban Meyer.’”After Kiffin explained to the crowd that coaches aren’t permitted to contact a prospect while he is on an official visit to another school, Kiffin ended the barb with this.”I love the fact that Urban had to cheat and still didn’t get him.”It’ll be interesting to see if the NCAA does anything about this potential violation. Probably not as interesting as the meeting between the two teams will be next September 19th in Gainesville.
Respond to “KIFFIN ACCUSES MEYER OF CHEATING”
I thought it was interesting that he started the accusation by saying that they got him to tell the newspapers that he WASN’T going to visit Tennessee so that the other schools wouldn’t know about it. How then can you accuse a coach of calling during a visit if he read in the paper that he wasn’t visiting?
This is typical Kiffin. It’s the reason he got fired by the Raiders. He cannot learn and he cannot mature. I feel bad for Tennessee.
Oh, the more interesting part is the actual recruit, Richardson.
Per the article:
“He threw for 1,020 yards and 14 touchdowns at quarterback as a senior, while also catching 22 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 234 yards and three scores.”
So he’s the Quarterback AND the Wide Receiver? Sounds like a lot of work.
Lane Kiffin has made a fool of himself again. There is no rule prohibiting a call on an official visit. he needs to check the the rules before he runs his mouth.
I hope Lane isn’t too shocked when the Gators put 50+ on the scoreboard the next time they see Vol orange on the other sideline.
As a Tampa Bay fan, I’ve always rooted for Lane to succeed, especially when Monte joined him. Since he’s been at Tennessee, it seems to me that he has turned into a bit of a scum bag. I never have been a Vols fan and nothing is making me change my mind.
And I thought I was going to miss Phil Fulmer. Good luck, Vols. And you have to win once in a while for it to be a rivalry….
