Buried in one of the one-liner’s I posted this morning was something I completely whiffed on the first time around and is deserving of its own post.(OK, maybe “buried” isn’t the right word. If you want to say “I skimmed through it faster than an Evelyn Woods valedictorian”, I wouldn’t object.)In a story about Michigan fans living in Columbus, the son of legendary head coach Bo Schembechler seems to take Rich Rodriguez to task for last year’s attempt to fit his round offensive philosophy into Michigan’s square talent base.”I’m not here to say Rich has done a bang-up job,” Glenn “Shemy” Schembechler told the Columbus Dispatch. “I know what he has said (about Michigan lacking talent), but he brings in a certain offense and tries to (force it). There is a learning curve, so it’s not so cut and dried.”Apparently, the worst season in the history of the program was not only enough to abruptly end the honeymoon, but for the nagging and the “honey-do” lists to commence in earnest as well.I’ll say this, though: Rodriguez, regardless of how you feel about him as a person, is too good of coach not to succeed in Ann Arbor. The fans and alumni simply need to have the patience of Job and give their head coach the time to implement his system with his players.
