Even with an offensive line in a serious state of flux as they attempt to replace four starters, Bob Stoops has dismissed Alex Williams from the Oklahoma football team, the head coach told Tulsa World this afternoon.Williams had been in line to compete for one of the starting spots along the beleaguered line, so whatever issues there were surrounding the lineman were serious enough where the coach was left with no choice but to further deplete what little depth/talent he has on that unit.”Alex Williams won’t be back with us,” Stoops told the paper regarding a player who played in six games as a redshirt freshmen last season.”He’s not doing what he needs to do. I’m not going to renew his scholarship, and he’s going to transfer [soon].”Earlier this offseason, the fiery coach leveled a few thinly-veiled blasts at the line regarding their work ethic and attitude in the months following the season. He also went so far as to go Anne Robinson on the line and labeled them the weakest link.”Those guys are at this point, it’s just everything, whether it’s with their work ethic, their attitude, those things need to improve,” Stoops was quoted as saying March 3. “They haven’t had the winter everyone else has had. They right now are the weak link of the team and we’ll see if they can respond and have any kind of spring and summer to help us be a team that can contend for a Big 12 Championship.”
