K-State Landing Another Transfer?

On the same day that former Oregon (fill in the blank for a position) Chris Harper went public with his decision to transfer to Kansas State, another player is apparently doing some heavy leaning toward taking up residence in Manhattan.According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, Harper and Brodrick Smith have been apartment hunting together (Warning: obligatory NBC series reference ahead) (not that there’s anything wrong with that...) as the latter is in the process of transferring to the Wildcats program."We’re just going to hang out and look at some apartments,” Smith told The Capital-Journal. “There’s a chance we could (live together)."There could be one very big issue that might prevent Smith -- who announced he was transferring from Minnesota last month -- from joining Harper at K-State, though. Right now, the football program does not have a scholarship to offer. However, Smith has met with the coaching staff and there could be a scholarship that opens up before the start of the season, thereby allowing the receiver to avoid paying his own way in 2009."I hope they do,” Smith said. “I talked to coach (Michael) Smith, and he said there’s a chance a scholarship will open up in August. I’ve got to go up there to look at how much it costs and talk to the coaches again. I probably won’t know for sure (Monday).”
