LSU'S WR Corp Hit After Molton Suffers Knee Injury

LSU has had a tough go of it lately with its wide receiving corp, and Tigers head coach Les Miles confirmed another injury that might make the depth chart at receiver dangerously thin.

Redshirt freshman Tim Molton injured his knee during seven-on-seven non-contact drills and could miss significant time, possibly the entire 2009 season. Miles confirmed the injury from Omaha, where he was watching the Tigers baseball team win the college world series.

(Congrats to Coach Mainieri… a very good guy.)

Molton is the third Tiger receiver to be lost since the end of last season. Ricky Dixon transferred out of the program, and Jared Mitchell, a star on the baseball team, decided to focus soley on his career on the diamond, after being taken in the first round of the MLB draft.

With senior Brandon LaFell entrenched as the number one receiver, the Tigers might have to rely on blue-chip incoming freshman Rueben Randle, and possibly top quarterback recruit Russell Shepard to take some snaps out wide.
