Handful Of Schools High On McNair’s Son

Steve McNair Jr., son of murdered NFL star Steve McNair, is garnering his share of attention from Div. 1-A schools, KTUL-TV is reporting.

According to the station, the younger McNair has received scholarship offers from at least four schools: West Virginia, Tulsa, Mississippi State and Southern Miss.

Scout.com reports that, in addition to the four schools mentioned, McNair has also received offers from Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Ole Miss and Alcorn State -- his father’s alma mater. Both Alabama and Florida State have expressed an interest, but are not believed to have given an offer.

Back in April, McNair listed his favorites as West Virginia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

While the interest from 1-A schools differentiates the son from the father, it’s not the only difference between the two. The elder McNair was a Heisman candidate at the quarterback position, while his son plays wide receiver for Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Last season, McNair 58 passes for 962 yards and eight touchdowns.
