Report: Irish, Army Set For New Yankee Stadium

Our old friend and vaudeville legend Keith Arnold forwarded us a story that appears on his Road To Game Day website, in which he's reporting that the rumored Notre Dame-Army game at the new Yankee Stadium has officially been signed.

A twist to the story, Arnold says, is that the game will be played in November of next year.

It's long been rumored that, if the two schools were to renew their rivalry in the old/new digs, it wouldn't happen until 2013 at the earliest.

The 2013 date was tossed around as it will mark the 100th anniversary of the epic 1913 clash that saw Notre Dame down Army 35-13 at the old Yankee Stadium.

The story also reports that a press release officially announcing the game should be coming "soon".

As expected, though, neither side will confirm anything at this point.

"We continue to have discussions with Notre Dame and the Yankees on several scheduling possibilities," Army Senior Associate Athletic Director Bob Beretta said in an e-mail to CFT.  "Nothing is official at this point."

An e-mail sent to Notre Dame seeking comment has yet to be returned.
