In an interview in which Kirk Ferentz states that he’s “not saying I’m never to going to the NFL”, that wasn’t the statement that caught my eye.
No, it was his comments about Twitter that grabbed my attention.
During a Q&A with the Cedar Rapids Gazette, the Iowa head coach was asked about the “new” social networking craze.
“You never say never, but if you see me with a Twitter account, just hit me with a baseball bat. Go ahead, take a whack at me,” Ferentz told the paper.
“I don’t think anyone cares if I have Wheaties or Honey Nut Cheerios. I don’t think anyone cares what I had for breakfast, what I chose this morning.”
First of all, God bless you Coach Ferentz.

Especially when the very people he’s recruiting have taken to the tool in massive numbers, and fellow coaches are attempting to use it to their recruiting advantage.
Secondly, Ashton Kutcher is the Patron Saint of Tweeting, for God’s sake. Who wants to be associated with that? (Yeah, I’m eyeballing you Florio.)
Thirdly, about this whole “not saying I’m never going to the NFL” thing…
