For the better part of the offseason, Penn State’s Joe Paterno has been the lone voice among Big Ten coaches stumping for conference expansion.
Thanks to Tim Brewster, Paterno is no longer alone.
The Minnesota head coach said today at the Big Ten meetings that expansion would result in a conference championship game, something that most observers feel is long overdue.
“How great would that be?” Brewster said according to the Bloomington Times. ”We’re missing a little something there by not having it.”
Back in May, commissioner Jim Delaney said that conference expansion was “a back-burner” issue”.
Hopefully, with the pressure applied by the likes of Paterno and Brewster, it will be an issue that quickly moves to the front-burner.
