Ray Guy Award watch 'list' announced

A scant nine players have been named to the Ray Guy Award watch list, the Greater Augusta Sports Council announced today.

The award is presented annually to the nation’s top punter, and is named for Georgia native and College Football Hall of Fame punter Ray Guy.

Oklahoma State’s Matt Fodge was last year’s recipient.  This year’s preseason list includes five players who were semifinalists for the award last season.

Below is the complete list of players who made the early cut:

Bryan Anger, California, Sophomore: 2008 Ray Guy Award semi-finalist

Ben Armer, Western Michigan, Sophomore

Travis Baltz, Maryland, Junior

Matt Dodge, East Carolina, Senior

Ryan Donahue, Iowa, Junior: 2008 Ray Guy Award semi-finalist

Derek Epperson, Baylor, Junior: 2008 Ray Guy Award semi-finalist

Chas Henry, Florida, Junior: 2008 Ray Guy Award semi-finalist 

Zoltan Mesko, Michigan, Senior: 2008 Ray Guy Award semi-finalist

Ross Thevenot, Tulane, Senior
