Injury bug bites Sooner back yet again

If it’s not one injury, it’s another tweak that talented Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray has had to deal with over the last two years.

This time around, it’s a left hamstring that’s causing some issues for Murray.

The junior back strained the hamstring at practice earlier today. Fortunately for all involved, the new injury doesn’t seem to be serious.

“He’s had some unlucky breaks because they’ve been odd injuries and unusual in the way they’ve happened,” head coach Bob Stoops said according to the Daily Oklahoman. “We’re just hopeful that he has some luck and those freakish things don’t happen again.”

As a precaution, Murray will be idle for the next two weeks.

Given the historically dicey nature of this particular injury, coupled with Murray’s medical rap sheet, shutting him down for a couple of weeks seems as much a necessity as it does a precaution.

In 2007, Murray missed the last three games of the season with a broken kneecap. Last year, he missed most of the Big 12 championship game and all of the national championship game with a torn tendon in his right hamstring.
