'Heathen' Bobby fails to worship at the altar of St. Timothy

There's been much debate throughout the offseason as to whether Tim Tebow is not only the greatest human being who's ever walked the face of the earth, but also whether he's the greatest player in the history of college football.

Regardless of which side of the debate you're on -- on the former argument, I think we can agree it's between Tebow and Christ Himself. Sorry, Mother T -- it's pretty much guaranteed that there's one name that never came up in the conversation from the anti-Tebow faction.

Charlie Ward.

Yet that's exactly who Bobby Bowden brought up today when the discussion started by rabble rouser Andrew Carter of the Orlando Sentinel turned toward Tebow and the current argument.

"People keep asking me about Tebow," Bowden said. "You know, is he the best ever? I don't know if he's better than Charlie. I don't think he runs better than Charlie. I don't think he throws better than Charlie. And Charlie only played [quarterback] two years for us."

First of all, what did you expect from the Florida State head coach when discussing one of his very, very gifted and talented Seminole quarterbacks?

This quote will likely get turned and twisted into Tebowgate, the Sequel, but it shouldn't. It's simply a coach pumping up a former player for whom he has a great deal of respect and admiration for after what he's accomplished both on and off the field.

Secondly, neither of the two are in fact the greatest players in the history of college football, so it's really a moot point.

You can have your Tebows or your Wards or anybody else for that matter. Give me the man below any day of the week and twice on Saturday. As a true freshman...
