Ball St. OL coach Tweeter tweaks RichRod... maybe

I’ll come right out and say it: I really have no use for the new-age rage that is Tweeter. None.

Yeah, it’s all the cough syrup of the ADD generation and their older, wanna-be-hip sycophants. Yeah, it’s a way to drive traffic. Yeah, I can hear Mr. Mazza firing up his email even before this is posted, so don’t even bother.

I know. Been there, seen the referral stats.

I guess there’s just a part of me that really doesn’t get it, doesn’t get the whole “I had Cocoa Puffs for breakfast, but not before doing a scratch ‘n sniff recon of my boxers” Armageddon that’s taking over the ‘net.

However, a twit from Ball State offensive line coach Jason Eck has me reconsidering my position.

As relayed by Pat Forde, Eck twitted the following at some point on Sunday: “Players off today ... unlike Michigan.”

OK, I don’t know what collegiate religion you claim, but that’s some funny sh-t right there, I don’t care what your colors are.

And it has me seriously considering whether or not to curb my gag reflexes whenever Tweeter is mentioned. Hell, if the 140-character dumbing-down apocalypse is upon us, and it can be as entertaining as that, maybe I should just go all Bobby Knight on this phenomenon.

Just lay back and enjoy the raping of journalism as we know it along with most everyone else.

But, then, I happened upon Eck’s Tweeter page, and, imagine that, the “honest-to-goodness, 100 percent true” twit Forde attributes to Eck has vanished. It’s gone. It’s been Naked Gun’d; nothing to see here. Move on.

So, yeah, I’m back to being good with my back facing this whole Tweeter thing.
