Kiffin sticks (stuck?) with Crompton

Last week, Tennessee’s Jonathan Crompton was UT-era Peyton Manning in throwing for five touchdowns, albeit against Western Kentucky.

This past weekend, Crompton was water finding its level, throwing zero touchdowns and tossing interceptions on three straight possessions in the loss to UCLA.

And that was at home.  Up next?  A trip to The Swamp to face a Florida team hellbent on making Kiffin eat his offseason words.

Still, head coach Lane Kiffin is standing behind his beleaguered man.  At least for the time being.  And if only for the fact that he has just Nick Stephens sitting in the on-deck circle.

He can’t worry about the other stuff and what people are saying,” Kiffin said. “This is a great university to play at, but when things go bad, because there is so much focus on football, you’re going to hear about it. You’re going to hear about it when you’re at breakfast, when you’re at lunch, when you’re at dinner, when you’re walking to class, and that makes it a difficult situation to handle.

“We’re going to monitor that. . . . I’ve talked to him, and we’re going to really focus on this game plan, focus on this week and that’s all he can do.”

And, somewhere in Chattanooga, B.J. Coleman is sporting a smile that stretches from one ear to the other.

The quitter? Seriously that’s what you’ve come up with? Wow.

I still can’t believe the Vols brought in Lane Kiffin to be coach. It’s a damn embarrassment.
So how many seasons will we have to put up with this? I hope not long.
(and we’re still paying Phillip Fulmer)
If the Vols had any brains they’d skip Gator country outright…just call it. If I’m a player I think I’d get the swine flu. The game was already over yesterday.
