UK LB popped on assault charge

Earlier today, Kentucky head coach Rich Brooks announced that freshman linebacker Ridge Wilson — wasn’t he a recurring character on “Walker, Texas Ranger”? — had been suspended for violating team rules.

And, apparently, one of those team rules reads “thou shalt not commit fourth-degree assault”.

According to the Associated Press, Wilson was arrested on that degree of assault after surrendering to campus police this afternoon following an incident late Monday night.

Per the university’s interim police chief, officers received a call about an altercation involving a male and female at 11 p.m. last night.  Upon responding, the female alleged that Wilson had struck her in the face.

Wilson, one of five freshman to see action in Kentucky’s season opener, was to have his status with the team evaluated following this weekend’s game.

And, with that, we’ll set the “Days Without An Arrest” meter back to “00″.  Yet again.
