Report: Corp to start for Trojans

While I understand that it really doesn’t matter who starts under center for Southern Cal, at least one report is identifying the Trojans’ starter for this Saturday’s game.  So, what the hell, we’ll throw it out there anyway.

According to ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad, and citing a “person briefed on the situation”, Aaron Corp has been given the nod and will start at quarterback against Washington.

Matt Barkley has been very limited in practice this week after suffering a shoulder injury in the win over Ohio State.  Corp took the majority of snaps with the first-team offense throughout the week, while Barkley has been relegated to either not throwing at all or doing the short toss with assistants on the sidelines.

If the report comes to fruition, it would be Corp’s first collegiate start.

The good news for Barkley, at least according to this report, is that he will not get Wally Pipp’d.

The same source who told Schad Corp would start also stated that Barkley is expected to keep his job and return as the starter once his shoulder fully heals.
