According to a report from the Independent Florida Alligator — seriously, that’s the name — quarterback Tim Tebow was one of several members of the football program to fly to Kentucky on a separate plane from their teammates because they are sick with the flu.
Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, citing a source close to the team, confirmed the report as well.
Along with Tebow, safety Major Wright flew separate from the team as well. No other players were mentioned by name in either report.
At least 35 players from UF have come down with the flu or flu-like symptoms in the last few weeks. The Gainesville Sun reported earlier this week that 97% of the flu cases documented on the campus have been of the H1N1 variety.
It’s not known if Tebow or Wright are suffering from the swine flu.
What is known is that, if Tebow comes out and has a, well, Tebow-like performance, you won’t be able to keep writers and bloggers off their knees and suckling at the teat of St. Timothy.
