ACL tear ends Gator lineman’s season

For the second straight season, an injury has prematurely ended Florida offensive tackle Matt Patchan‘s season.

Last year, it was an injury to his leg that forced him out of the last three games. This year, it’s a torn ACL that’s knocked the former defensive lineman off the playing field.

Patchan tore the ACL during non-contact drills Tuesday.

“That’s a tough deal,” head coach Urban Meyer said. “Especially for Matt. Matt’s been injury prone. He’s coming into his own a little bit.”

The sophomore has been listed as the top backup to starting left tackle Carl Johnson, and was a key part of the Gators’ OL rotation.
