WVU starter hit with public intox charge

Just as his team cracked the Top 25 for the first time in 2009 based on their on-field efforts, West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart is being forced to deal with yet another off-field incident involving one of his players.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, starting defensive tackle Scooter Berry was arrested outside of a Morgantown nightclub very early Sunday morning.

The lineman was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.  There is no word yet on whether Berry will face a suspension.

“Coach Bill Stewart is aware of the situation, is gathering the facts and will take appropriate action when all the facts are gathered,” WVU football media relations contact Mike Montoro told the Post-Gazette.

Stewart is expected to address Berry’s situation this afternoon.

Now you gotta reset the “days without an arrest” meter John. By the way why is the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette so worried about whats going on in West Virginia. Is there that much hatred between the 2 schools?
