LeBron reaches out to OSU's Pryor

It seems as if everyone and their brother’s barber has an opinion on what’s wrong with Terrelle Pryor and what needs to be done to fix the Ohio State quarterback.

Most of those offering advice haven’t a clue as to what the Pryor is going through as a high-profile phenom.  LeBron James, more than probably anyone, does understand the expectations facing Pryor, and he’s reached out recently to the young QB.

According to the NBA superstar, he was put in contact with Pryor and has been keeping up with him regularly throughout the week, offering advice on how to deal with the expectations.

“I have been in contact (with Pryor), just trying to mentor him through life in the spotlight which I have been through,” said James, an OSU football fan. “Being the No. 1 guy, how do you adjust to it and get through it and still perform at a high level? Sometimes, it can be very difficult on someone.

“He’s trying to be the guy that can get through a lot of situations in which he has never seen before, but that he’s now seeing and understanding.

“I try to keep up with him on game days and wish him luck. Throughout the week, I try to see how things are going because at the end of the day it’s about a lot more than football or basketball. I know because I’ve seen it all from a prep kid who was very (highly-touted) and now as a professional.”

James wasn’t the only member of the Cleveland Cavaliers offering Pryor advice.  The Big Aristotle also offered his own brand of wisdom to Pryor.

“Keep your head up, young man, and get this football team back on track.”

Shaq’s big, Terrelle.  I’d do exactly what he says.

Pryor definitely needs to get some good advice from somewhere. I’m kinda surprised that Tressel hasn’t been able to properly coach this kid as far as attitude and leadership. From what I see, Pryor has all the physical talent in the world. He looks like he could be unsackable at times and he has made some great downfield throws. After playing so much as a freshman, I expected him to really start dominating this season but he’s clearly missing something intangible.
I don’t know whatever the mysterious “it” thing is that separates the great QBs from the good, but Pryor just doesn’t seem to have it. Not everyone needs to be a maniac on the field like Tebow, but I’ve not seen Pryor exhibit any passion about the games or even any comradarie with his teammates. I hope the young man isn’t too self-absorbed to change his attitude, work-ethic, leadership, or whatever it is that’s holding him back. Because he could be truly great.

The kid has talent, passion, will, desire, and the attitude to succeed. Unfortunately, what he doesn’t have is an offensive line that can block for more than 1/2 second. Its really hard to go through your receiver progressions when you take 5 steps back and have 3 defenders in your face already. Give him a few seconds to see the field and I’ll be we’ll see a much different performance. Tressel.. I know you know this but just in case you don’t. Every single team from here on out will be blitzing on every single down to try and get to Terrelle. How about designing a few quick hit plays to help the kid out? No, that does not mean running up the middle three straight times either!!!

Got to get the guys up front to block. I don’t care who you are, Tebow included, if you do not have the line blocking for you, you will not look very good.
