'By the Numbers' -- No passing necessary

NAVYwake.jpg

0 -- Forward passes attempted by Navy in its 13-10 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday during a rainstorm in Annapolis.

0.375 -- Scoring percentage of TCU sophomore wide receiver Antoine Hicks. So far this season, he has scored touchdowns on six of his 16 touches, including a 75-yard touchdown reception in the Horned Frogs' 38-7 win at BYU on Saturday.

0.913 -- Texas' all-time winning percentage against Oklahoma State (21-2). The third-ranked Longhorns will try to improve upon that on Saturday in Stillwater. Even if that number were Texas' BCS point average, instead of the 0.893 it is currently at, it would still trail Florida's 0.973 and Alabama's 0.945 by a significant margin.

4 -- Turnovers by Nebraska inside Iowa State's 5-yard line in a 9-7 loss to the Cyclones. The Cornhuskers, who tied a school record with eight turnovers, lost to Iowa State at home for the first time since 1977. The Cyclones, who had zero turnovers, won a Big 12 contest on the road for the first time in 16 games.

5 -- Games in a row won by Temple . . . yes, Temple. The Owls will try to run their streak to six on Saturday at Navy, which is also sitting on five consecutive victories. The last time the Midshipmen won six in a row was in 2005-06. You have to go back a little further for Temple . . . 1973.

6 -- Extra points converted by Miami (Ohio) in eight games this season. It's no wonder that the RedHawks are winless on the season.

8 -- Single-game receiving performances in San Diego State history better than the one DeMarco Sampson had on Saturday in a 42-28 victory over Colorado State. He gained 257 yards (second most in the nation this season) on 15 receptions. The Aztecs have some kind of all-time list.

10 -- Season-high scoring output for Vanderbilt in SEC play this season. The Commodores have reached that meager accomplishment in back-to-back losses to Georgia (34-10) and South Carolina (14-10).

RILEYkevin.jpg

11 -- Offensive plays California needed to take a 28-3 lead in the first quarter of its 49-17 rout of Washington State. Bear quarterback Kevin Riley (pictured) attempted only three passes in the opening quarter and completed each of them for touchdowns, covering a total of 85 yards.

12 -- Lead changes in Clemson's 40-37 overtime victory at Miami (Fla.).

15 -- Touchdowns scored and allowed by Vanderbilt this season. But somehow the Commodores are 2-6 overall, 0-5 in SEC play and have lost their last four.

26.7 -- Average winning margin for Cincinnati in its three Big East victories.

28 -- Total points Notre Dame's last six games have been decided by.

45 -- Season-high points scored by Idaho on Saturday at Nevada. Unfortunately for the Vandals they lost by 25 points to fall to 6-2.

49 -- Career rushing touchdowns for Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, tying the all-time SEC record held by legendary Georgia running back Herschel Walker.

81 -- Passing yards by Auburn in its 31-10 loss to LSU. Doesn't it seem like just yesterday that new Tiger offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn was the toast of the town? His unit gained only 42 total yards in the first half. Meanwhile, Tony Franklin's Middle Tennessee State offense racked up 62 points and 646 total yards in a victory over Western Kentucky.

87 -- Total combined passing yards in the Ball State-Eastern Michigan game on Saturday. Cardinals senior quarterback Tanner Justice was 2-of-10 for one yard (not a typo) and threw an interception, but was on the winning side (see "504" below). A pair of Eagle quarterbacks were 8-of-24 for 86 yards and one touchdown.

100 -- Percentage of Clemson-Miami games that have gone into overtime since the Hurricanes joined the ACC (3-for-3).

103 -- Rushing yards allowed by the Texas defense in its last five games. Missouri, which absorbed a 41-7 loss at the hands of the Longhorns on Saturday, accounts for 74 of those yards.

120 -- Interception return yards for Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks, who returned a pair of Tim Tebow interceptions for the Bulldogs' only two touchdowns in a 29-19 loss to Florida.

171 -- Rushing yards gained by West Virginia running back Noel Devine on 14 second-half carries versus Connecticut. He had just seven yards on nine attempts before halftime.

205 -- Points scored by Nevada in its current four-game winning streak. The Wolf Pack took the entire month of September to warm up. Nevada opened the season with three consecutive losses, scoring a total of only 41 points.

PONDERchristian.jpg

237 -- Consecutive passes thrown by Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder (pictured) without an interception. He threw his only INT in the season opener against Miami (Fla.). Ponder has thrown for 12 touchdowns and 2,176 yards this season. He has completed 70 percent of his passes (180-of-257), leads the ACC in total offense and is pretty much the only bright spot for the Seminoles this season. Apparently the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award hasn't noticed that Ponder has been sensational this season, leaving him off their list of 15 semifinalists.

478 -- Career touches for Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers without a single fumble (407 rushes and 71 receptions).

504 -- Combined rushing yards for Ball State running backs MiQuale Lewis and Cory Sykes in the Cardinals' 29-27 victory over Eastern Michigan. Sykes' third touchdown with 1:47 remaining provided the winning margin, lifting Ball State (1-7) from the ranks of the winless and keeping Eastern Michigan (0-7) there.

1200 -- Game in Virginia's football history that Saturday's contest against Duke represents. We're wondering in how many of those games have the Blue Devils (4-3) come in with a better record than the Cavaliers (3-4).

1994 -- The last year Duke won back-to-back ACC games before accomplishing that feat on Saturday with a 17-13 victory over Maryland.
