Bob Griese created a mini-storm over the weekend with what some viewed as an insensitive remark about a NASCAR driver.
During the Ohio State-Michigan-Minnesota game, ESPN did a promo for their coverage of the race by showing the top five drivers in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. When Chris Spielman asked where's Juan Pablo Montoya, Griese responded that he was "out having a taco".
Griese ultimately apologized for the remark both at the end of the game and then later on that night at the halftime of ESPN's game.
As far as the butt of his "joke" is concerned, it's no big deal.
"I don't really care, to tell you the truth," Montoya said. "Yeah, I don't. I could say I spent the last three hours eating tacos, but I was actually driving a car. But that's OK, I don't care."
Felix Sabates, part owner of Montoya's race team, made light of Griese's remark.
"I think he was just joking," Sabates said. "I didn't take it too serious. He needs to get his geography corrected, because they don't have tacos in Colombia. Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with it. He was just trying to be funny.
"I know Bob--well, well, well, well. Bob would never say anything like that, that is a racial slur. That's just not him. Bob is not the funniest guy in the world, but he's straightforward. I think he probably tried to put some humor into it, and it backfired on him. No big deal. No harm. No foul."
So, there you have it. End of story.
When you buy a new computer make sure it corrects mistakes for you. It was the Ohio State-Minnesota game (not Michigan).
Only one brand of computer is even worth considering: Apple.

He should have said, "he's doing a line of coke," to be, you know, geographically correct.
i think sabates & JPM both knew what most of us knew - this wasn't a big deal.
this country is just ridiculous with the PC-thing. people get offended way too easily. you know what? YOU control what you're offended about. stop being so damn sensitive, america.
this wasn't even racist as it wasn't even geographically correct. griese was trying to be funny and failed. further, he had the intelligence/foresight/sincerity to apologize TWICE on his own accord. that apparently wasn't enough, ESPN had to suspend him?
Well EPSN sucks anyway, serves them right i guess.
by the way, when are you guys going to discover what cookies are? i'm tired of logging in to post every single comment.
