UConn loses QB for the rest of '09

Cody Endres suffered a shoulder injury during UConn’s loss to Rutgers and will be lost for the remainder of the 2009 season, the Hartford Courant is reporting.

Endres will undergo surgery this morning to repair the throwing-shoulder damage, which the paper described as similar to what Sam Bradford suffered earlier this season.

Zach Frazer, who suffered a knee injury against North Carolina Sept. 19 that led to Endres taking over the starting job, took over after the first-quarter injury and struggled mightily, throwing three interceptions in the loss.

“I knew I was letting my team down throwing the interceptions; you definitely, as a quarterback, … get a sense of … ‘it’s my fault, it’s my fault,’ ” Frazer said. “But the next play is what you have to focus on, and I think we came together as an offensive unit at the end and drove down the field and did exceptionally well. It just didn’t turn out the way we wanted to today.”
