It goes without saying that a good portion of the college football coaching fraternity is in Bobby Bowden‘s corner when it comes to when exactly he should leave Florida State.
Most of them, if not all of them, believe it should be up to the Seminoles legend as to his departure time from the sidelines.
Florida’s Urban Meyer and South Florida’s Jim Leavitt are among the myriad coaches who have come out in support of Bowden since Jim “Mr. FSU” Smith levied his “old dog” blast at the coach last month. Today, you can officially add Dabo Swinney to the list of pro-Bobby coaches.
Saying that FSU “wouldn’t be on the map” without Bowden, the Clemson head coach decried Bowden being shoved out the Seminole door before he’s ready.
“He ought to be able to coaches for 10 more years, if that’s what he wants to do,” Swinney said during his weekly news conference. “If people force Bobby Bowden out, it’s just a shame.”
Incidentally, the Tigers play the Seminoles this weekend.
