Torn hammy ends Vandy QB's season

Vanderbilt will be without the services of their starting quarterback for the remainder of the 2009 season, head coach Bobby Johnson has announced.

Larry Smith suffered a torn hamstring in the loss to Georgia Tech Saturday, and it was initially thought Smith might be able to return at some point before the end of the regular season.  However, an MRI revealed the true extent of the damage.

"I don't expect to see Larry back this year playing for us," Johnson said. "The best prognosis I've heard is four to six weeks. We've had guys who tweaked hamstrings that have not come back in four weeks, so this is pretty significant."

Senior Mackenzi Adams, who's made nine previous starts in his Commodore career, will replace Smith in the starting lineup.
