This has not been the best of years for the Syracuse football program. In particular, the last couple of days have been very trying for first-year head coach Doug Marrone.
Yesterday, the coach was stunned by star wide receiver Mike Williams unexpectedly walking into his office and announcing that he was quitting the football team.
Today, there are more trials, more tribulations for Marrone.
According to the Syracuse Post-Standard, Marrone has announced the suspension of three players for violating unspecified team rules.
Tailback Antwon Bailey, offensive guard Andrew Tiller and defensive end Torrey Ball were hit with suspensions. The report does not indicate how long the trio will be out.
And, in an interesting twist, the Post-Standard reports that message board chatter indicates that the suspensions may have been related to an incident involving Williams. There was no indication as to what that incident may have been.
Sounds like a lovers triangle gone bad…….
