SEC mum on Urban’s ref ‘criticism’

According to the Birmingham News, SEC commissioner Mike Slive is aware of Florida head coach Urban Meyer‘s “criticism” of officials for not throwing a flag on a hit to Tim Tebow, but no disciplinary action has been taken yet.

SEC spokesman Charles Bloom told the paper that Slive is away on business, but that “something” could be decided over “the next few days”.

“The commissioner is out of town on other business,” Bloom said. “He is aware of the comments made by Coach Meyer. There will be nothing coming out today. There may be something in the next few days.”

Meyer made the comments that were seemingly critical of the officiating in the UF-UA game during the SEC coaches teleconference today, although it should be noted that the Gators coach prefaced his remarks by saying he had “great respect” for SEC officiating.

Will that count for something?

I dunno. A lot of times I preface remarks I make about my wife’s bitchiness with “You know I love you, but...” and that doesn’t normally go over well or soften the blow.

For Meyer’s sake, I hope Slive’s not as catty as my better half.

[Writer’s Note: Yes, I fully expect to be indefinitely suspended from any and all marital “relations” if/when the wife reads these public comments. It’s a risk, though, I’m willing to take for the good of the site.]
