Hawkeyes down, starting QB injured

The fact that Iowa is behind Northwestern 14-10 is not that big of a deal.  The unbeaten Hawkeyes have been coming back all season long.

However, during those first nine games when they'd fallen behind, they had quarterback Ricky Stanzi to help lead them back.  Today, that may not be the case.

Stanzi suffered an injury to his leg during the second quarter and whether or not he will return is unknown. On the play he was injured, Stanzi was sacked in the end zone and lost the ball.  The fumble was recovered by Marshall Thomas for the Wildcats' first touchdown of the game.

At the time of his injury, Stanzi had thrown for 134 yards, a touchdown and an interception.  74 of those yards came in the first minute of the game on a touchdown pass to Marvin McNutt.

James Vandenberg has is 2-3 for 11 yards in place of Stanzi.  Vandenberg's lone incompletion?  An interception on his first pass of the day.

I thought James Vandenberg tore up his knee in the movie Varsity Blues?
