Irish eyes are crying as BcS hopes laid to rest

Remember all of the BcS talk surrounding Notre Dame in the week leading up to today's game with Navy?

Forget about it.  Put it out of your mind.

(I'll wait for the cheers to subside... OK, you guys good?  Good.)

Even as they "won" the game statistically, the Irish were on the wrong side of the only stat that matters, the scoreboard, as the Midshipmen came away with a 23-21 win on Veteran's Day weekend.

Irish quarterback Jimmy Clausen threw for 452 yards as part of an offense that put 512 yards in the stat sheet, but the Domers' defense allowed 348 yards rushing in the loss to offset that production.

The loss drops the Irish to 6-3 on the season, snuffing out what little flicker of hope they had of securing a BcS berth.

You may now resume your regularly scheduled celebration, already in progress...

I love it!wonder if the gator bowl will still want them when they lose to pitt next week?now that navy has won 2 games in the series who wants to bet dame will find a reason not to have them on the schedule when the current contract ends?ok let's here the excuses this week domers.could it be the lack of talent?um since he has had a top 5 if not better recruiting class since he has been there I don't think so!please by all means sign fatboy to an extension or at the very least honor the remainder of his contract and prove you are not just about wins and losses after all that would mean that god forbid you are the SAME as every other college and not ao superior after all.

Whatever happens, for the love of everything good and holy, DO NOT FIRE CHARLIE WEIS! He is exactly what the Irish needs. Upon his arrival, it was predicted that he would lead Notre Dame to the football promise land and he has delivered just that. Attendance is at all time highs...A lucrative television contract is in place...Notre Dame alum continue to get drafted in the NFL...South Bend pastry shops are experiencing unheard of profits. Why would the school tamper with such success? We love the position Notre Dame is in at present and would love to see this kind of prosperity continue over the life of Charlie's EXTENDED contract and hopefully far beyond! CHARLIE MUST STAY!

@ the first two posters: You have already exceeded my expectations as to what might come of this posting. Kudos. I think.

Hopefully this dashes the BCS hopes......if not Pittsburgh will next week

Urban Meyer's phone should be ringing any day now.

Anyone who thinks Notre Dame will drop Navy because of a few defeats doesn't know why ND plays them in the first place.

Study your history. Hint: It goes back to WWII.

    Classic.

And kered, I hope to hell Meyer heads to South Bend. My heart would bask in the gut wrenching cries of the Gator Nation as they lose Urban and St. Timmy at the same time, and return to the scrap heap of mediocrity from whence they came.

ND needs to join the Big 10 and STOP playing a high school schedule.

Navy played a great game, kudos to the Midshipmen

Why didn't that Cryin Irish blog owner write this piece Taylor? I'd love to give him the business about his spin on Navy and Irish football loses.

To all those Irish fans dissing Ohio State in week one as Navy almost pulled the upset in the 'Shoe - that Middie squad sure can play better than you thought - hey?

Good thing it didn't snow in Noter Dame stadium yesteday.

    Go Navy!

@Pier588 - Exactly! Where's little baby Keith Arnold now? Still crying in his cornflakes, I guess.

Let me also just pose this, considering the lousy NBC announcers only mentioned it 32,573 times during the game, BCS for nd? Are you effing serious? Going into the Navy game a two-loss team and nd was being considered for the BCS? You have got to be effing kiding me? You mean to tell me that the BCS would take a team in a non-BCS conference (considering they're not in a conference) with two losses, and a pathetic schedule over other one and two loss teams in BCS conferences? I almost threw up when I heard that talk.

As a proud Navy season ticket holder, all I can say is that Navy DOMINATED that game. Shove those clausen stats up your a$$es nd "fans" (and Keith), they mostly came in garbage time.

This is perfect payback for having to sit at the Navy/nd game last year (our "home" game, btw) and listen to all the meathead nd fans talk $hit about Navy all game long.

Stick that in your blog and smoke it, Keith.
