Ponder officially out for Wake

E.J. Manuel told the media following Florida State's loss to Clemson that he expected to start at quarterback this weekend in the wake of Christian Ponder's injury.

That expectation officially became a reality this evening as FSU has announced that Ponder will miss this Saturday's game with Wake Forest.

Ponder suffered a separated right (throwing) shoulder against the Tigers making a tackle following his fourth interception of the game.  The junior will have additional tests performed Monday, and the results will determine the course of his rehabilitation as well as how much action he will miss.

As for Manuel, he will be making the first start of his collegiate career.  The freshman has thrown four passes this season, completing one for four yards.
