SEC won't comment publicly on latest controversy

For those of you looking for the SEC to offer a public explanation/denouncement of their latest officiating controversy, I wouldn't hold your breath if I were you.

According to multiple reports, the SEC will not issue a public statement on the controversial non-interception interception in Saturday afternoon's Alabama-LSU game.

The play in question centers on LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson appearing to pick off a Greg McElroy pass with under six minutes remaining and the Tigers trailing 21-15.  The officials on the field ruled the pass an incompletion, and a replay review confirmed the ruling on the field.

However, multiple replays aired on the broadcast -- and after the fact -- seemed to show that Peterson not only had one foot inbounds, but possibly a second as well.  And, it seemed, he had possession of the ball through his going out of bounds.

This was the latest in a string of officiating controversies that have haunted the conference over the last month.

After dealing with some of the incidents in a very public manner, like suspending an entire officiating crew for poor performances in two high-profile game, the league has decided to keep their lips sealed in an attempt to further add fuel to the burgeoning fire of criticism.

As opposed to making a spectacle of the incident this time around, the SEC will hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil publicly.  Instead, they will communicate privately with LSU officials and offer an explanation through those unseen channels.

Yeah, that'll ground the black helicopter crowd.

How does LSU lose to Alabama and move from 9th to 8th in the BCS........a loss is a loss.....unless you play in the SEC. My guess is they are paving the way to put Alabama and Florida in the Championship game......this was a warmup.

The worst part of that missed overturned call is if you're LSU coach Miles. You can't even mention it unless you're writing a $30,000 check in the process. I would LOVE it if Coach Miles came out in a press conference and opened by pulling out his checkbook, a pen, and he starts writing while the reporters go "huh?"... then he rips into the officials AND the SEC for not fixing their problems. It's not fair to his university and his players who work so hard to make sure that they get fair treatment against top teams.

Coach Miles would be me hero if he could pull that off --- someone needs to grow a pair and do it already.

I'm sorry but that shat would not be tolerated by Honest Mack in the Big 12. No way. Call him a whiner but he speaks up for his players when they did their job and the "system" failed them.
