He answered queries for 20 minutes after the win over Vanderbilt, and seemed to grow increasingly agitated at what was being suggested. Finally, he'd had enough, and snapped off a biting rebuttal to the questions.
"I don't care about that," Meyer said about the "ho-hum" perception of his offense right now. "Those people in that [locker room], it's not ho-hum, I assure you. Have you ever gone 19-0? I can answer that for you. You have not.
"It's not ho-hum. If it's ho-hum for somebody, you've got to really reflect and say, 'Where am I headed in this life right now?' Because if 19-0 in the Southeastern Conference at the University of Florida is ho-hum, you have one exciting life. You have a lot of good stuff going for you because 19-0 -- I don't want to take away from what those cats have done."
Fast forward to yesterday, and Meyer canceled his regular teleconference with the local media. Was it in response to the tone of the postgame press conference Saturday? The school says no as they said there was simply a scheduling conflict.
Then, yesterday evening, Meyer again didn't speak to reporters following practice.
So, is there a storm brewing in Gainesville? That seems highly doubtful, but it's becoming increasingly clear that Meyer is not happy with his offense's lack of production.
Or being asked repeatedly about it.
Sounds like Urban The Ego has a bit of a patience problem or he walked out with his disdain for the media not safely tucked in... The poor guy, he's #1 and he still has to deal with those pesky (and granted, usually idiotic) media questions. Damn good thing he is pulling in some good coin to have to put up with such trauma
This is completely a non-issue drummed up by the media to look like an issue. He has more important things to do than appeasing the media monkeys, like getting more productivity out of his WRs, getting more protection for his QB, getting more productivity out of his running game, etc.
19-0 with a shot to go 20-0 and continue to a back to back title is what is important. Style points don't matter. They have some issues that that need to resolve and do so quickly. The ol' ball coach would love to knock the Gators out this year. I don't see it happening, but even if it happens, they are still in the title game hunt because a one loss SEC team is still more attractive than anything else out there.
