Sooners lose two more starters to season-ending injuries

Oklahoma's list of prominent players lost to season-ending injuries grew to six yesterday evening, head coach Bob Stoops announced after practice.

Starting left guard Brody Eldridge and defensive end Auston English are the latest to be sidelined for the rest of 2009, with Eldridge suffering an AC joint sprain while English will undergo surgery today to repair a torn tendon in his foot.

It had been announced early in the afternoon yesterday that Eldridge would miss the Texas A&M game this coming weekend, but obviously additional testing and/or test results revealed the true extent of the damage.

"Well, that's the way it goes," Stoops said. "Other guys hopefully can play and step up. That's what needs to happen."

Earlier in the season, the Sooners had lost, among others, reigning Heisman winning quarterback Sam Bradford and All-American tight end Jermaine Grisham.

It all helps to add up to a 5-4 record, the worst mark of Stoops' 11 seasons in Norman.
