Ole Miss hit with huge defensive blow

Ole Miss’ season of disappointment continued this afternoon as the Rebels learned they will likely be without their best defensive player for the remainder of the 2009 season.

According to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, defensive end Greg Hardy has a broken wrist, an injury that could very well end at least the regular-season portion of his Ole Miss career.

The Clarion-Ledger reports that Hardy was not at practice this afternoon.

Hardy, who leads the Rebs with five sacks, has seen his senior season wracked with various injuries. The 6-5, 275-pound end gave serious consideration to making himself available for the 2009 draft, but ultimately decided to stay in Oxford for one more season.
