Tide's Ingram rolling toward the Heisman

It seemed to be a near-consensus heading into this weekend that Alabama's Mark Ingram was the leader heading toward the clubhouse in the chase for the Heisman.

Given Houston quarterback Case Keenum's inexplicable loss today, and the fact that that at least three worthy defenders -- Ndamukong Suh, Eric Berry and Rolando McClain (yes, you wore me down, Seeryer) -- won't merit much consideration even as it's the perfect year for it, the 'Bama back was in the perfect position to make a trophy statement.

And do that he is doing.  (Huh?)

Ingram has rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns, the latter score coming on a 70-yard run in the middle of the fourth quarter that put the exclamation point on what is a win going away for the Tide.  If he were indeed the Heisman front runner, he did nothing to taint (giggle) that standing.

And, yes, I know, Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow and blah blah freaking blah.

Great, great college players, McCoy and Tebow, but there are better players in the game this year that deserve consideration ahead of that duo's esteemed careers.

So the SEC is running some massive national conspiracy to get 1 of its top 2 teams into the National Championship game which is allegedly true and despicable according to earlier posts but its completely honorable when it comes to Ingram winning the Heisman?

    Roll Tide

When is Toby Gerhart going to get some love?? More disrepect for west coast football. He had another monster day today, steamrolling USC for 178 yards and 3 TDs, and now leads the nation in TDs. I don't expect him to win, but jeez, he barely even gets mentioned as a viable finalist, and that's a travesty.

I just think that in the end Colt McCoy getting the shaft last year and looking at his whole college carrier he gets the nod. I know I know he has not put up top Heisman numbers this year but if he were not playing would Texas be looking at closing the deal this year? Roll it, Chomp it hell even Gig it but he will own the record for wins!!!

I was going to say, when will Gerhart get mentioned. More touchdowns on the ground than ANYONE!? And he is near the top in yards... and it's not like he did it against weak competition...

Toby deserves consideration, but let's not get carried away and state that the Pac 10 is strong competition.

Thanks John Taylor. I made a snide comment in the Hayden thread. It was because I had not seen this post. Mclain over Berry for SEC defender of the year. Start the media wave right here JT.
