Yesterday, we noted a report from the Chicago Sun-Times that stated, citing unnamed sources, that Notre Dame would have an interest in Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops and Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz if Charlie Weis is canned.
Additionally, the Sun-Times reported that Stoops told a “confidant” he would be interested in speaking to the Irish.
Following practice yesterday, Stoops addressed the rumor. And didn’t seem too happy to be doing so.
“That’s ridiculous. ... Some confidant, huh?” Stoops said. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. Notre Dame doesn’t have a job (open). And I haven’t spoken to any confidants about anything. Outside of trying to beat Texas Tech.”
Stoops went on to add that the report was “some guy making something up. ... People just make stuff up.”
