The quarterback was involved in a violent collision on Nov. 14, and sat out the come-from-behind win against Colorado Thursday night with a shoulder injury and the aftereffects of "head trauma".
Following the game, head coach Mike Gundy explained the thought process behind keeping Robinson on the sidelines, even as it was Senior Night at Boone Pickens Stadium.
"It was precautionary because I didn't think he could play full speed," Gundy said. "If it was the last game of his career, would he have tried to pull it off? I'm not sure. I don't think he was ready to play, and he probably shouldn't have been out there."
While there is uncertainty surrounding Robinson, there is one sure thing at the QB position -- Brandon Weeden is now the Cowboys' No. 2 man.
Replacing an ineffective Alex Cate, who went 0-9 passing in his first collegiate start, Weeden led the Cowboys back from an 11-point second-half deficit in the win. Weeden, a former New York Yankee minor leaguer, threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns in earning the top spot behind Robinson.
"We'll increase Brandon's reps now. We'll give him more. He's earned the No. 2 spot," Gundy said. "We want Alex Cate in our program, but I don't think it would be fair to the team to not increase Brandon Weeden's reps."
