Sooners lose yet another starter to injury

A very large part of the blame for Oklahoma's disappointing 6-5 record can be placed squarely at the feet of some injury god cabal who were apparently pissed off in a major way by someone in Norman.

Six starters -- reigning Heisman winner Sam Bradford, All-American tight end Jermaine Gresham and the three offensive lineman chief among them -- have incurred season-ending injuries at various points this season.

Unfortunately for the Sooners, a seventh name can be added to the list, at least as far as the regular season is concerned.

Citing Internet reports, Tulsa World is reporting that starting middle linebacker Ryan Reynolds will likely miss this weekend's Bedlam game with Oklahoma State due to a hamstring injury.

Reynolds, who missed more than half of the 2008 season with the third major knee injury of his collegiate career. suffered the hamstring injury in the third quarter of the blowout loss to Te4xas Tech.

If Reynolds is indeed out, he would likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Austin Box.

As a lifelong Sooner fan it is hard to get upset about a .500 type of season especially with so many crippling injuries. You lose almost 1/3 rd of your starting line up it will tough to beat the better teams on your schedule.Last time the Sooners lost 4 games or more they rattled off 3 seasons of 11 wins or more.
At least we aren't Notre Dame.

    Hey TonyC

Glad to see you are comfortable with the Sooners .500 season. Fortunately you can ride the "injury excuse" to make yourself feel a little better.

Hope OU's talent remains thin in the future to ease your pain.
