Fresh off Urban Meyer‘s latest attempt to extinguish the Notre Dame rumor fire before it has the chance to really start rolling, one of the Florida coach’s current players has chimed in as well.
Tim Tebow was asked about the Meyer-to-Notre Dame rumors, and the quarterback made it perfectly clear where his feelings are on this “situation”.
“I don’t think he’ll be at Notre Dame. I don’t think that’s anything he’ll do now. I don’t think he’ll do that ever,” Tebow told the Florida media Monday afternoon. “I don’t think he’s really interested. I think he’s enjoying his time here. I think he’s enjoying being the head coach at the University of Florida and enjoying this senior class and being undefeated; we’ve won 21 in a row.
“He loves his players, and I don’t think he wants to go to a place where he has to start fresh.”
Of course, no amount of denials from Tebow or even Meyer himself will stop the wave of rumors that will commence the minute Charlie Weis is relieved of his South Bend duties. And they won’t stop until the Irish name Weis’ successor “if” he’s canned.
Such is the lot in life handed to arguably the best college coach in the country. The $4 million a year he will receive annually, though, should be enough to assuage any anguish he feels over whatever it is the rumor mill spits out.
UND better be ready to pay him more… and pay off Weis… and supply him with another source of income so Meyer can please his new “recruits”.
When asked how he could be so confident that Meyer wasn’t going to Notre Dame, Tebow went on to add: “Because we just signed a three year lease together on a loft apartment in the East Village of New York, where we plan on opening an antique store and growing old together.”
You have to think it’s Brian Kelley’s job if he wants it.
yet another reason to hate dame.because they are dame they think think they are entiltled to any coach they want.just because you want them does not mean they want you.maybe that coach you want is happy at his current school and wants no part of your we are dame therefore god made us #1 demands.shocking I know but just maybe it is not the job it once was and those coaches don’t want to deal with unrealistic expectations.of coarse money tals so you might get who you want but if he smart he will want what you gave weiss or more.
