Iowa cleans up Big Ten honors

While Iowa fell short in its bid for a Big Ten title, the Hawkeyes took away some serious hardware as the Big Ten announced their all-conference teams and individual honors.

Kirk Ferentz was named coach of the year and Bryan Bulaga was named offensive lineman of the year, while seven Hawkeyes were named first team All-Big Ten.  A total of nine Hawkeyes were named to the first or second team by the coaches, the most in the league.

Big Ten champ Ohio State had one player -- safety Kurt Coleman -- named to the first team, but there were five Buckeyes named to the second team.

Wisconsin running back John Clay was tabbed as they offensive player of the year, while Penn State's Jared Odrick took the honors on the defensive side of the ball.  Odrick was also named the defensive lineman of the year.

Below is the composition of the all-conference first and second teams.

You forgot to include Michigan transfer, Justin Boren, in the 1st team count. That's Justin Boren, Michigan transfer.

Also, I would have gone Daryll Clark as Off POY, not Clay.

@ BrownsTown: Boren was first team in the media poll. I was talking about the coaches, not those media hacks. ;-)

    JT,

    Touche.

    cb,

All of the LSU fans that I know (I admit that I know LSU fans) would be happy to let Miles go. Seems that a willing partner in the form of the UM AD could make it happen.

Kind of suprised that OSU only had one first team player given they won the conference.
