Earlier today, reports hit the ‘net that Michigan State football players may have been involved in a “mass assault” that included upwards of 20 males on a campus dorm.
This evening, the Detroit News is reporting that two Spartan football players have been kicked off the team for violating unspecified team rules.
Coincidence? (Insert eye roll here)
According to the News, running back/grizzled County Jail vet Glenn Winston and safety Roderick Jenrette were the two players who received a one-way ticket out of East Lansing. The school would neither confirm nor deny that the punishment was related to the dorm incident in which both males and females were allegedly attacked and injured.
Both Winston and Jenrette suffered season-ending injuries earlier this year, but had contributed significantly when healthy.
Winston served four months of a six-month sentence this past offseason after being found guilty of beating -- literally -- a MSU hockey player during the course of a brawl.
Needless to say, the back didn’t learn his lesson well -- either by staying out of trouble or not getting caught when he did (allegedly) get into trouble.
