When Florida takes the field against Florida State this weekend and — most importantly — for the SEC championship game against Alabama the following week, they’ll do so with linebacker A.J. Jones standing on the sidelines.
Jones sprained the medial collateral in his right knee during the Gators’ late-season scrimmage with Florida International last Saturday, and has already been ruled out of the next two games.
Jones, who should be healthy enough to return for UF’s bowl game in January, will be replaced in the starting lineup by Brandon Hicks.
