Stoops to have sit-down with Irish?

The “will he, won’t he” saga as it pertains to Bob Stoops and the soon-to-be-open job at Notre Dame is about to ratchet into high gear as Oklahoma has finished up their regular season, and Tony Barnhart is the first to pop the clutch on the latest round of rumors.

Citing unnamed coaches and agents, the CBS Sports college football analyst is reporting that the hot rumor making the rounds is to not be surprised if Stoops has “an audience” with Notre Dame officials.

Additionally, Barnhart reports that Stoops may travel to South Bend “as early as tomorrow” to have a sit-down with school officials.

The old saying goes that where there’s smoke, there’s fire.  As far as Stoops-to-ND is concerned, there’s a rolling cloud of smoke engulfing Norman and the surrounding areas at this moment.

Is there any fire underneath the haze of innuendo?  It’s hard to say, but it sure as hell seems like something is smoldering around the Sooners coach.

And it’s looking more and more likely that the coach who grew up in the Midwest will, at the very least, take a look at what the once-storied Irish football program has to offer.

Gee John, you have found a way to comment on everything except the Gators destruction of the Noles today. You always whine when Gator fans call you on your bias, but not one single update on the game today?
UT and Bama struggle in their rivalry games…you have plenty to say about both. Gators pound the Noles, Tebow accounts for 5 TDs and we have silence?

@ gator_prof: Easy there chief. The night’s not over yet. Much like the rest of the media, I’ll get on my knees and blow Tebow in short order…

The Gators game against Alabama on December 5 will be their first test of the season. Florida hasn’t proven anything yet, except that it can beat a top 15 team (LSU) and a bunch of patsies.

Yay! The Gators dominated yet another cupcake unranked team! Timmy’s legacy as “Slayer-of-Little-Leaguers” is secure!

Every year there are rumors that Stoops is interested in leaving Oklahoma. What he would be smoking to make him want to do that I don’t know, and I find it highly unlikely he goes anywhere.

At Oklahoma Stoops has the same recruiting ability that Weis or any other ND coach will have. He’s in a major comfort level because he’ll continue to get big time recruits and have less concern about them getting in to the school as he would at ND.
Weis is going to be handpicked by Bill Bellichick before this week is over and instantly improve NE’s offense.
Although my darkhorse is Cleveland and Eric Mangini because he could work with Brady Quinn and they could give him the money.

Damn shame Timmy didn’t have to face a real FSU team.
