Ingram will 'most definitely' be ready for SEC title tilt

Don’t look for Mark Ingram to get Wally Pipp’d — hi Deb! — at any point in the near future as the Alabama running back says he will be ready to go for the SEC championship game against Florida Saturday night.

Ingram suffered a hip injury during the close win over Auburn, which kept him on the sidelines for most of the Tide’s game-winning drive.  At least as far as the Heisman contender is concerned, though, he won’t be reprising that role come the weekend.

“I just kind of bruised it in the game, but it’s getting better every day,” Ingram said. “So I’ll be ready for Saturday, most definitely.

“I’m doing great. My body feels great. I feel real good, to be honest with you.”

Carlos Dunlap will be announcing his suspension of himself from the SEC title game because Urban Legend can’t bring himself to do it. That ought to open up some holes for Ingram.

I sure hope he’s right, because we need him. If Bama has a chance to win the big one, this is the year. Seven defensive starters will be graduating following season’s end, including all-time great kick returner/cornerback Javier Arenas and massive, game-changing nose tackle Terrence Cody. Rolando McClain will likely hit the road as well.
The offense will likely improve, but the defense will take a massive hit, and we all know that the defense is the strong point of this team.
If it’s gonna happen, this is the year… and I sure hope every Tide player plays like it.
