At least for the time being ,though, the thermostat has been turned down just a bit as the Terrapin head coach will return for a tenth season.
According to the Baltimore Sun, a series of meetings between Friedgen and athletic director Debbie Yow has resulted in the coach being retained for the 2010 season. The final decision was made this morning, and an official announcement will be made at some point in the near future.
The Sun reports that one of the most convincing arguments Friedgen made in the 3 1/2 hours worth of meetings was the plethora of injuries that hit the Terrapins this season.
Another factor in the decision to retain Friedgen was likely the costly buyout in his contract. If Friedgen had been fired, the school would have been forced to pay out $4 million to their departing coach.
Friedgen is currently signed through the 2011 season, and there have been no talks on extending that contract. Offensive coordinator James Franklin was previously named as the school's coach-in-waiting, and would receive $1 million if he's not named the head coach at the end of the 2011 season.
Lucky Fat Bastard. He better be counting his fat lucky stars that Yow didn't want to pay his contract out.
Wanting to buy his contract out has nothing to do with it retard. Do you have $4,000,000 just lying around in this economy to spend buying a highly paid State employee out? Didn't think so. Get your facts straight.
Trust me, I have facts VERY straight. Jackass!
And another thing, I bet you deliver pizza's to Friedgen's house on the weekends. You were probably worried it was going to cut into your kids college fund if he got fired. You're still a Jackass BTW!

If the cost of the buyout has nothing to do with it, then why do you think they want to keep him?
