Irish eyes falling on Bielema?

There have been more than a few names tossed around the rumor mill as possibilities for Notre Dame’s new head coach, but one of those names hasn’t been Bret Bielema.

Until now.

According to a website called FootballCoachScoop.com, Irish athletic director Jack Swarbrick “is very interested” in talking to the current Wisconsin head coach.

The site, citing unnamed sources, said that a meeting between the Irish and Bielema is expected to take place either Sunday or Monday.

Bielema signed a one-year contract extension this past January that would keep him as the Badgers’ coach through the 2014 season. There’s was also some talk earlier in the year that he might be on the hot seat, but that talk has seemingly subsided of late.

It would seem highly unlikely that this would actually be a possibility, let alone get to the point where the two sides have actually scheduled a meeting, but stranger things have happened in the vicinity of the coaching carousel.
