Remember all of that talk a little bit earlier about what a loss to Pittsburgh would do to Cincinnati’s BcS hopes? Forget about it. Put it out of your mind. It is now moot.
A Tony Pike touchdown pass with :33 left gave the Bearcats a thrilling 45-44 win, a Big East title and the conference’s automatic BcS bid.
At one point late in the second first half, the No. 5 Bearcats trailed 31-10 as the senior Pike struggled immensely against a tough Panthers defense.
However, both Pike and the offense turned things around in the second half, outscoring Pitt 28-13 to keep their record on the season unblemished.
While the long-term focus will be on the Bearcats’ January bowl date, the short-term will focus squarely on whether or not Brian Kelly will still be their head coach.
Notre Dame is expected to contact Kelly at some point after today’s game regarding their coaching vacancy, and it’s believed the coach will be willing to listen.
Incredible games so far today… LTech scoring 31 points in the 2nd quarter against SJSU… ECU topping Houston for the CUSA crown… Fresno State scoring with 2 seconds left on a 4th and 10 on the 19, then converting the 2 pt conversion for the win.
John, I feel like Pat Hill has done this before; go for the win on the 2 pt conversion, I mean. Do you know?
Awesome game. Look out for Mardy Gilyard. He is a beast.
I’m sorry for the Pitt fans, but man, that was an awesome game today. A shootout in the snow – you can’t ask for much more than that. I have a feeling ‘Bama-Florida will be anti-climatic compared to Cin-Pitt and Fresno State.

I believe that was the first half…
Did Cincinnati let Pitt score at the end to get the ball back?
